| Frequently Asked Questions |
| |
| How often should I come in for an eye examination? |
A yearly eye examination is recommended. Prescriptions may or may not change over the year, but nevertheless, it is important to check for visual acuity at least once a year. |
| What are the benefits of bifocals versus multi-focals? What are the differences? |
Bifocal glasses have two areas of vision included within the lenses. Usually there is a little window on the lower part of the lenses designated for close vision while the rest of the lenses are used for distance vision. Progressive lenses are not segmented like bifocals or trifocals. From top to bottom, there is a gradual transition allowing the wearer to view far distances and close distances. In how to decide which one is better for you, one must take into consideration your daily lifestyle and you own personal preference. |

| What are the recommended ways to care for eyeglasses to prevent scratches and retain durability? |
Despite technological advances in the manufacturing of a scratch resistant coating and better quality lenses, there is still a chance of acquiring scratches upon the lens if one is not careful with their glasses. Ways to care for your glasses and keep them in top shape is to clean them everyday with cold water and soap, use our recommended cloth that we provide to gently rub the surface of the lens, and to take care in placing the glasses the right side up. To prevent screws from loosening on the hinges, use both hands to remove the glasses from your face and use two hands to place them upon your face. |
| What is astigmatism? |
In astigmatism, the front surface of the eye’s cornea is shaped more like a football than a basketball. It is a particular eye condition that causes refractive errors in the way light rays are focused within the eye. The distortion results because of an inability to focus light rays to one point. As a result, light is focused upon two points in your eye. |
| What is presbyopia? |
Presbyopia is a visual condition that becomes especially apparent in middle age. The loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye causes inability to focus sharply for near vision. Presbyopia continues on through your sixties so it is recommended that you periodically change
your lenses.
